Hope itself — and a real Japanese name, understood the moment it’s seen. It lives in 希望 (kibō), the word a whole language uses for hope; your character is borrowed from it.
How it lands
保布 (ho·pu) matches the sound, but means “keep, cloth”. A native sets it aside because the meaning of Hope is missing.
With 望, meaning comes first. The reading changes to nozomi; it no longer sounds like “Hope”.

Does a person really review my name?
Yes. A Japanese reader checks the meaning, reading, and final recommendation before delivery. You may optionally allow AI to help prepare a draft on the application form. That choice is off by default; leave it unchecked for a human-only reading.
Why pay before the form?
You’re reserving a Japanese reader’s time and judgement. Payment reserves your place in the curator’s queue; the short form opens the moment you’re done.
What if it doesn’t feel like you?
A name can hold more than one true character. If you’d like a different take, you can order a fresh reading anytime — each is a new ¥2,980 commission, personally reviewed for your brief. Because every reading is custom-made and delivered digitally, completed readings aren’t refundable; if we ever fail to deliver, contact us within 14 days of the scheduled delivery date for a full refund or re-send.
Will I get one character, or several?
One a native recommends, chosen for you, with the reason it’s that character — plus a couple of alternatives when your name allows. Not a menu to sort through; a considered recommendation, with room to differ.
Will my name still sound the same?
Tell us whether sound or meaning matters more. Japanese sounds may differ from your original name, and creative kanji readings are not always obvious to another reader. Your curator explains the reading and any trade-off.
